Welcome
Committed to patient education, our doctors encourage you to participate in choosing treatment strategies. We welcome questions at every stage and offer an extensive library of informative brochures and video tapes on many subjects. Our doctors will discuss your goals and objectives before advising surgery, often using 3-D anatomical models of the hand and shoulder to fully explain your condition and treatment options.
Our hands are extremely complex mechanical systems, involving skin, muscles, tendons,
bones, nerves and arteries. As specialists in plastic, hand and upper extremity
surgery, our doctors have had extensive training in several related fields, including
residencies in orthopaedic surgery and plastic surgery. (Fellowships in hand surgery
were completed following their residencies.) This additional expertise enables us to
offer effective methods to rehabilitate patients with problems resulting from congenital
deformities, injuries, overuse, or arthritic conditions. Our doctors are highly
skilled and each one brings a unique perspective to the practice. By combining our
experience and sharing information, we are able to offer an effective team approach. Learn more about our physicians.
The doctors may also recommend a program of rehabilitation following surgery to maximize post-operative results. These programs may include:
- Therapist assisted and/or home therapy
- Splinting for protection or guided motion
- Specialized equipment and weights to improve
